NHRA ANNOUNCES GET SCREENED AMERICA PRO MOD
DRAG RACING SERIES TELEVISION SCHEDULE FOR 2010

10-race inaugural season to be televised on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD

GLENDORA, Calif. (March. 2, 2010) — The inaugural NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series, which begins at the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals March 11-14, will be featured on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD.
ESPN2 and ESPN2HD will televise ten 30-minute highlight shows of the racing action from select NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events. The shows, to be aired on a taped delay basis, will recap the weekend’s events including final elimination coverage of the 16-car fields.
In addition, ESPN International will televise the events around the world through English-speaking networks in Africa, Middle East, Caribbean and the Pacific Rim.  In all, 102 countries and over 9.4 million households will receive NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series coverage worldwide.
All NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series broadcasts will be aired the following Saturday or Sunday of the race, except the Norwalk event which will air on a two-week delay.
Calling the action on the telecasts will be long-time NHRA announcer Dave Rieff who will be joined by 22-time NHRA winner Mike Dunn providing expert analysis and insight on the racing action.
The formation of the NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series wouldn’t have been possible without the financial commitment of Pro Care Rx and Get Screened America. A multi-year commitment by the group to fund the series made the series possible.
Following the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Fla., the schedule includes stops at some of the biggest events on the circuit including Houston (April 9-11), St. Louis (April 30-May 2), Atlanta (May 14-16), Englishtown (June 10-13), Bristol (June 18-20) and Norwalk (June 24-27).  The second half of the season will see the 240-mph machines race at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, (Sept. 1-6),  the second Charlotte event (Sept. 16-19), and conclude at the second Las Vegas event (Oct. 28-31).
With body styles ranging from ’41 Willys to ‘53 Corvettes, ’57 Chevys to ’70 Cudas, and first-generation Camaros and Firebirds, to profiles as racy as the latest Dodge Viper, along with show-quality “themed paint jobs,” Pro Mods have been crowd pleasers at NHRA events for several years as an exhibition. With huge slicks at the rear and superchargers poking through the hoods, there’s no doubt that these cars are a whole lot more than souped-up classics.
ESPN2 is now available in nearly 99 million households.
Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., NHRA has 80,000 members and 140 member tracks nationwide.   As the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States, NHRA presents 23 national events featuring the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series. Two NHRA-sanctioned bracket racing series provide competition opportunities for drivers of all levels: the NHRA Summit Racing Series and the NHRA Drags: Street Legal Style presented by AAA.  NHRA also offers the Jr. Drag Racing League for youth ages 8 to 17.   In addition, NHRA owns and operates five racing facilities: Gainesville Raceway in Florida; Atlanta Dragway in Georgia; National Trail Raceway in Ohio; O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis; and Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in Southern California.
